Magdalena Bay, the eccentric synth-pop duo, effortlessly brought a vibrant and cheerful energy to the crowd at House of Blues Anaheim, who naturally got in tune with the group’s fun setlist. Mica Tenenbaum, singer-songwriter for Magdalena Bay, pulled out her closet quirks to the show ranging from a matching pompom speckled red two piece attire to angel wings to iridescent capes, carrying an added layer of whimsy to their already decked out stage. Multi-instrumentalist Matthew Lewin, showcasing his brilliancy in music production switching back and forth from the electric guitar, bass and key synthesizer all while sporting a bright red jumpsuit.

The concert was a perfect mix of their newest songs such as “Love is Everywhere” and “Vampire in the Corner” from their most recently released album Imaginal Disk, to songs like “Top Dog” and deep cuts such as “Ghost”. The duo thankfully had their talented drummer Nick Villa, who exhibited such ease in supporting the rhythm and tempo of the band, occasionally having his phenomenal solo moments. Through this concert, Magdalena Bay was able to show the Anaheim crowd their fantastic, unique artistry and natural dynamic — so captivating that it compels you to listen to their entire discography on the drive back home.
